I’ve been having a blast over the past few months as a newbie to yoga. Friends and followers on Instagram have been inquiring about what I’ve been doing as a part of growing and improving my yoga practice. I’m a yogi on a budget, so much of my practice has been at-home and with the use of online beginner yoga tools and resources. The best part? They’re all FREE!
Here are 5 of my favorite free online yoga resources for beginner yoga!
1. Yoga Journal
Remember how I told you guys about my struggle with “yogi speak” when I started my yoga journey? Well, one of the first places that I looked for to break down yoga jargon was Yoga Journal. This is a one-stop-shop for all-things yoga related? Want to know what a Vinyasa is? Check the Yogapedia. Want to learn the mechanics of different yoga poses? They’ve got a library full of poses! They even have a video section filled with easy-to-follow with how-to’s.
2. Yoga With Adriene
YouTube has a variety of channels dedicated to yoga for all levels. One of my go-to channels is Yoga With Adriene. She has some great foundational Yoga for Beginners videos and several other series and programs on her channel. I’m currently doing her 30 Days of Yoga series and I’m so inspired! Adriene is very chill. Her style of teaching is very motivational and she encourages students to go at their own pace. You’ll love her if you like great teaching and positive vibes
3. Do Yoga With Me
If you’re looking for a resource with unlimited access to hundreds of free yoga videos, look no further than Do Yoga With Me! This is a pub of free online yoga videos of different lengths—some as short as 10 minutes or so and others a little over an hour in length—for all levels, and while you don’t have to pay to use their service, but they do have donation-based subscription options. (They’re really affordable, too!) Here are some of their videos for beginner yoga.
4. Kino Yoga
One of the first people to sparked my interest in becoming a super-fab, strong yogi was Kino of KinoYoga on YouTube. Kino shares short video clips showing techniques and easy-to-follow flows. She’s a Florida girl like me so she also has longer videos like this fun beach workout. Kino is very cool and bubbly and her love for yoga shines through in every video she posts. She’s a great resource for beginner yoga tips and inspiration.
5. Bad Yogi
I’ve recently discovered the Bad Yogi YouTube channel with Erin Motz. This channel is a breath of fresh air becasue it basically positions itself as a place for all yogis. Sometimes people assume that being a yogi means you should only eat, look or dress a certain way and Erin caters to the perfectly imperfect yogis (like myself). She’s very chill and a great teacher who makes you feel right at home in this sometimes intimidating world of yoga. Her videos are short-and-sweet and she has a few fun challenges that you can try. I also enjoy her tutorials on some of the yoga basics like this video on How to do the down dog step-throu
I hope you find these free online biginner yoga resources helpful! Now, go forth and Nama-slay!
Ciao Bellas,
Great post! Yoga is such a great workout for both body and mind, and it’s something that can be done for very little money and with very little equipment. I love these resources! One of my favorite YouTube yogis is Leslie Fightmaster.
Thanks for stopping by, Megan! I’ll definitely have to check out Leslie’s YouTube channel. I’m always looking for great new resources.
